Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have been captured in a tender embrace while aboard a luxury yacht. The pop star, who is 40 years old, first became linked with Trudeau, 53, when they were spotted on a date together in late July.
In a video recorded by an onlooker, the I Kissed A Girl singer was seen looking cozy with the former Prime Minister as they shared an intimate meal at a restaurant in Montreal. It was reported that the pair had also enjoyed drinks that same evening, as they headed out to the terrace at Taverne Atlantic in the Quebec capital.
Weeks later, Trudeau was seen in the audience at Perry’s concert in Montreal, which further fueled rumors of their romance. Now, the pair has been photographed in an affectionate hug as they spent some private time aboard a high-end boat in California.
In these images, Trudeau and Perry can be seen sharing a passionate hug, during which he appears to grab her backside. Perry is dressed in swimwear, while Trudeau is topless and wearing sunglasses. On the lower deck, those present seem to look in the opposite direction as the embrace continues.
According to one onlooker, who was on a charter boat at the time, Perry and Trudeau pulled their boat alongside theirs before boarding the top deck.
As the news of their relationship surfaced, shocked commenters took to social media to express their reactions. One user wrote, “Such a strange combo,” while another said, “Like what is even going on anymore.”
Another commenter, fabulousMolar, simply asked, “WHAT IS THIS TIMELINE!?” Meanwhile, Soft_Cable5934 commented, “Perry and Trudeau relationship is not on my bingo card.”
A user named YodaForceGhost joked, “Orlando Bloom gonna start dating Angela Merkel?” in reference to Perry’s recent breakup from actor Orlando Bloom.
Rumors of Perry and Trudeau’s relationship come soon after both parties split from their respective partners. Perry ended her long-term relationship with Orlando Bloom earlier this year, with the couple confirming the end of their relationship via a joint statement from their representatives.
The statement read, “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.”
It continued, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
Lord of the Rings actor Bloom, 48, shares daughter Daisy Dove with the Teenage Dream singer. She was born in 2020, and they remain amicable co-parents, with Bloom recently sharing family Instagram snaps.
The celebrity couple first met in 2016 and, aside from a brief split in 2017, remained strong until rumors of their separation began earlier this year. Although neither Bloom nor Perry explicitly addressed the news, Bloom shared hints about his feelings through cryptic social media posts.
One such post included a Carl Jung quote: “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself.”
