Yoon Ji-ah, a popular content creator known for her engaging TikTok live sessions, had amassed a large following of over 300,000 fans on the platform. Her entertaining content and lively interactions with viewers made her a standout figure in the online community. However, her life was tragically cut short under mysterious circumstances.
On the day of her death, one of her most loyal and high-ranking gifters was reportedly seen dragging a suitcase towards the area where her body was later found. Police arrested him approximately half a day after the grim discovery, and an unexpected twist emerged during his interrogation.
According to reports, Yoon, who was believed to be in her early 20s, was found dead on a mountainside just 30 minutes after finishing her last livestream. Police confirmed that she was attacked shortly after ending the stream. Further investigations revealed that she was brutally assaulted and killed by one of her VIP fans, who then dumped her body in a suitcase.
Yoon had been filming herself on Yeongjong Island in Incheon, Korea, about a three-hour drive from where her body was discovered. The main suspect identified so far is a man named Choi, believed to be in his 50s.
Did Yoon Ji-ah know her alleged killer? Local media reports indicated that Choi introduced himself to Yoon as the CEO of an IT company, offering to help grow her social media career as a business partner. However, police later uncovered that he had been leading a double life. Known on other livestream platforms as a big-spending VIP supporter, Choi reportedly reached level 56 in gifting, which cost him at least KSh 9.1 million. Despite his flashy image, he was allegedly in debt, and his house had been seized through a forced auction.
Reports suggested that Yoon wanted to end her relationship with Choi due to his controlling behavior and unreasonable demands. According to Korean outlet Chosun Biz, CCTV footage captured Choi begging on his knees for Yoon not to cut ties with him shortly before her death. Yoon’s family later revealed that camera footage showed her being prevented from leaving a car, with the door slamming shut.
Her body was found dumped in a grassy area on a mountain in Muju County. An autopsy confirmed that she died from asphyxiation due to neck compression. Chosun Biz further reported that Choi had been seen around the time of her disappearance carrying a suitcase towards the mountain, stopping several times on his way, seemingly due to the weight.
Police arrested him 12 hours after Yoon’s body was found. Initially, he denied involvement in the brutal act but later confessed to killing her.
