Strictly Star Tries to Hide Tears After Exit

Emotional Farewell from Strictly Come Dancing

Ross King, a well-known TV presenter, was visibly emotional as he bid farewell to Strictly Come Dancing following a tense dance-off. The show, which has captivated audiences with its mix of talent and drama, saw Ross and his partner Jowita Przystal eliminated in the bottom two during Movie Week.

The competition between Ross and Jowita against Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon was intense. Both couples performed their routines again, with Ross and Jowita showcasing their Paso Doble to the theme from Thunderbirds Are Go, complete with iconic blue costumes. Meanwhile, Balvinder and Julian delivered a graceful foxtrot to The Way You Look Tonight from Swing Time.

After both performances, the judges—Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke—decided to save Balvinder and Julian. Head Judge Shirley Ballas, who had the casting vote this week, also expressed her support for the couple should she have been required to vote.

Ross, known for his role as the LA correspondent on ITV’s Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, was clearly moved by the news that he would be leaving the series. When asked by Tess Daly about their time on the show, Ross tearfully reflected on his experience: “I have loved every single minute of it. I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported us, all the people who voted – they’ve been amazing.”

He continued, “I want to thank everyone here in this room, backstage, the judges, the crew – every single person here has made me so, so welcome. And, I want to thank a very special lady who has been with me through it all and has been absolutely everything: she’s been a mentor, teacher, carer…” Jowita added, “barista!” before Ross concluded, “I could not have wished for a better partner, and I could not have wished to be on a better show. Thank you, judges, for all your remarks.”

Jowita, who affectionately referred to Ross as “Your King,” stood by her words: “And I still stand by it! Thank you so much for all of your work. For everything you have done during rehearsals. We laugh a lot – but we also cried! Thank you so much, and I hope I’m going to be a little part in your life forever.”

Viewers took to social media to express their surprise at the elimination, with many questioning whether the right couple was sent home. Comments included:

  • “Balvinder in the dance off, what the hell #Strictly” from @Michaela_jayne1.
  • “I really thought Balvinder & Julian would be more popular. Looks like only us #EastEnders fans seem to be voting for her which is such a shame. She is brilliant and is improving every week” from @RyanSoapKing25.
  • “Ah god bless you Ross you’re brilliant” from @RyanSoapKing25, showing support for Ross.

Tonight’s episode also featured a special routine from the professional dancers celebrating the Minecraft movie, followed by a stunning performance from Nancy Xu and Kai Widdrington of Reflection from Mulan.

Ross and Jowita are the second couple to leave the BBC dance competition after Thomas Skinner and Amy Dowden exited last Sunday. The remaining 13 couples will return next week, aiming to climb the leaderboard once more. However, they will now face the challenge without Cynthia Erivo, who served as a special guest judge in the previous episode.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday, October 18, at 6:30pm, with the results show on Sunday, 19 October at 7:15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
