Duke, Diane Keaton’s Grieving Son, Spotted for First Time Since Her Sudden Passing

Diane Keaton’s Grieving Son Seen for the First Time After Her Passing

Diane Keaton’s son, Duke, was seen for the first time since his mother’s passing as he left her Los Angeles home on Sunday. The 25-year-old was dressed in all black, showing his deep mourning for the Hollywood legend who adopted him as a baby. In a unique gesture to honor his mother, Duke wore two cross necklaces, a look that was famously associated with Diane Keaton. Known for her eclectic fashion sense, she often paired multiple pieces of jewelry with her signature hats.

Duke, who has an older sister named Dexter (also adopted by Keaton), is a musician and recently released his debut single titled “Passenger Princes” in August. His appearance at the scene reflected both his grief and his tribute to his mother’s iconic style.

Details from the 911 Call Revealed

Duke was seen hours after the final moments of his mother were revealed through the release of the 911 call made to emergency responders. The recording, obtained by TMZ, showed a dispatcher calling for the LA Fire Department to respond to reports of a “person down” at Keaton’s home address shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday. The actress was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

According to a relative, Keaton was with loved ones when she passed, and the family requested privacy. No further details have been released about the circumstances of her death.

Keaton, who was 55 when she adopted Duke in 2001, had previously adopted her daughter in 1996. In 2007, she told People, “They have no interest in what I do, which I think is very healthy. We live a relatively normal — well, sort of normal — life.”

Friends Recall Keaton’s Reclusive Nature and Health Decline

Close friends of the Annie Hall, Father of the Bride, and The First Wives Club star have shared memories of how Keaton became increasingly reclusive in the past year. One longtime friend, songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, remarked on how shockingly thin Keaton had become before her sudden death.

“I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin,” Sager, 81, recalled. “She had lost so much weight.” She explained that Keaton had been affected by the wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles in January. “She had to go to Palm Springs because her house has been damaged inside and they had to clean everything.”

“She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost,” the Grammy and Oscar award-winning lyricist shared. Sager described her late friend as “a magic light for everyone.” “I just loved her,” she said. “She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy.”

Another of Keaton’s confidantes told People that the actress’ health fell off a cliff in recent months, something “which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her.” The insider added, “She declined very suddenly. It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”

“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”
